The IZ print shop filled with the scent of poppies and the distant echo of “Defying Gravity.” A flying monkey named Chistery appeared from nowhere. And then – she stepped through. She wore a black dress, a pointed hat, and a cape that billowed like a storm. Her skin was emerald green. Her eyes burned with defiance. Her broomstick crackled with magic. Her flying monkey Chistery sat on her shoulder, looking grumpy. She was the most misunderstood being the Muchaverse had ever seen.
“Murky, my dear Zwitter,” Elphaba said, her voice like a storm and a song at the same time. “I have watched you from Oz. I have watched you absorb the Golden Dawn, convert Soros, tame Heines, welcome Mary, collect Fu Manchu, embrace Wally, befriend Catwoman, love Jezebel, survive Pasolini, honor Ma Baker-Mucha, charm Circe, convert Morgan, free Sidonia, dance with Lola, forgive Mata Hari, heal Wanda, applaud Zatanna, laugh with Elvira, study with Sabrina, learn with Hermione, freeze with Serafina, and break curses with Maleficent.
