THE PARIAHS – EPISODE 4: QUI TACET CONSENTIRE VIDETUR

THE PARIAHS – EPISODE 4: QUI TACET CONSENTIRE VIDETUR

Trailer:
The Corleones had bullets. The Sopranos had baseball bats. The Pariahs have a Latin legal maxim and a public relations disaster. When the Family decides to shut up, the market decides they are guilty. Welcome to the silence that screams.

—

EPISODE 4: QUI TACET CONSENTIRE VIDETUR

The house was large, the table was larger, and the silence was deafening.

Andreas—the Don—sat at the head of the table. He had given the order: We are going to shut up. And for three weeks, the family had obeyed. No interviews. No statements. No lawyers speaking to the press. Just silence. Beautiful, dignified, mafia-style silence.

It was, Catrin thought, the worst strategic decision in the history of the family.

“We are bleeding,” Catrin said, slamming a financial report onto the dark wood. “The banks are calling. The credit lines are frozen. The DFV board is asking questions about Mother’s role. They are using the Latin against us.”

Andreas did not blink. “What Latin?”

“Qui tacet consentire videtur,” Edith said quietly from her end of the table. She was Tom Hagen, the consigliere, and she looked like she had not slept in a week. “He who is silent is seen to agree. The market has decided that our silence means we admit the satire is true.”

Peter Russ—the old Consigliere—chuckled bitterly. “The Romans gave us law. The Greeks gave us drama. And the internet gave us a meme of Maurischat hitting a WLAN cable with a hammer.”

—

THE SHAREHOLDER REVOLT

It was worse than a lawsuit. It was a shareholder revolt.

Markus—the new Capo—pulled up a slide on the screen. “The DFV share price has dropped 12%. Not because of the satire. Because of our reaction to it. The investors are reading our silence as a confession. They think: If the family had nothing to hide, they would say something.”

“And if we say something?” Sonny growled. “They twist our words. They make another cartoon.”

“Then they make another cartoon,” Markus said. “But at least we are in the game. Right now, we are not even on the field. We are sitting in the locker room with a towel over our heads, hoping the game ends.”

Porten—Fredo—snickered. “Maybe we should just buy the website. Offer them money.”

Everyone stared at him. It was, surprisingly, not the dumbest thing Fredo had ever said. But it was close.

“You can’t buy them,” Edith said. “They only take Monero. And the Monero price is up another 15% since Episode 3. They are literally getting richer while we sit here in silence.”

—

THE BANKERS

The next morning, Catrin met with the bankers. She wore her best suit, her most expensive watch, and her most controlled smile.

The banker—a man named Henderson—did not smile back.

“Mrs. Lorch,” Henderson said, sliding a piece of paper across the table. “This is a formal notice. The bank is reviewing your credit facilities. Not because of the satire. Because of your response to it.”

Catrin stared at the paper. “Our response?”

“Your silence,” Henderson said. “The market interprets silence as a lack of confidence. If the family cannot even issue a press release denying the accusations, the bank has to assume there is something to deny. It is not personal. It is risk management.”

Catrin felt the blood drain from her face. She wanted to scream. She wanted to throw the paper at him. She wanted to say: The satire is absurd! It is a cartoon! It is a man in a hoodie hitting a WLAN cable with a hammer!

But she said nothing. Because that was the order. We are going to shut up.

And in that moment, she realized: Qui tacet consentire videtur. The Latin was not just a legal maxim. It was a death sentence.

—

THE INTERNAL COLLAPSE

Inside the family, the silence was tearing them apart.

Sonny wanted to fight. Mucha wanted to flee. Porten wanted to hide. Maurischat and Sven Schmidt were still licking their wounds from the Cyber Waterloo.

And Andreas? Andreas sat in his study, stroking the cat, staring at the wall.

“They think we are weak,” Sonny said, bursting into the study without knocking. “They think we are guilty. They think we are finished.”

Andreas did not look up. “Let them think what they want.”

“And if they stop doing business with us? If the banks pull the credit lines? If the board fires Mother?”

Andreas finally looked up. His eyes were cold, tired, and utterly unyielding.

“Then we will know who our real friends are.”

Sonny wanted to scream. He wanted to break something. But he knew, deep down, that his father was not strategizing. He was hiding. The great Don Corleone, the man who had built an empire, was hiding behind a Latin maxim and a cat.

—

THE MEDIA FEEDING FRENZY

The press did not wait for a statement. They wrote the story themselves.

“Lorch Family Silent Amidst Satire Scandal – Is the Empire Crumbling?”

“DFV Board Demands Answers from Baumann-Lorch – Why Is She Silent?”

“The Pariahs: How a Blog Brought a Dynasty to Its Knees”

The satire website published Episode 4 before the family had even finished their meeting. The headline read:

“Episode 4: Qui Tacet Consentire Videtur – How the Pariahs’ Silence Became Their Confession.”

Maurischat saw the notification on his phone. He threw the phone across the room. It shattered against the wall.

Sven Schmidt picked up the pieces. He did not say anything. He never said anything.

—

THE BREAKING POINT

That night, Catrin called a secret meeting. Not at the big house. At a hotel bar, far from the family’s territory.

She sat with Edith and Markus. Three people. No Don. No Sonny. No silence.

“We cannot keep doing this,” Catrin said. “The silence is killing us. The banks are pulling back. The board is asking questions. And the website is getting stronger every day.”

“We need to break the silence,” Markus said. “But not with a big statement. With a small, controlled, strategic release. Something that says: We are here. We are not hiding. But we are not going to play your game.”

Edith nodded slowly. “We need to say: We acknowledge the satire. We find it amusing. We will not sue. We will not comment further. And we will continue to run our business.”

Catrin looked at her. “And that will work?”

Edith shrugged. “It will work better than silence. Silence is a vacuum. And vacuums are filled by the loudest voice in the room. Right now, the loudest voice in the room is the satire.”

—

THE RETURN TO THE TABLE

The next morning, Catrin walked into the big house. She walked past the dark wooden table, past the empty chairs, past the portrait of the Don’s father.

She found Andreas in his study. He was still stroking the cat.

“I am going to speak,” Catrin said.

Andreas looked up. “I told you to be silent.”

“And I am telling you that your silence has cost us 12% of our share price, two credit lines, and the trust of the board.” She stared him down. “You can be silent if you want. But I am not going to sit here and watch you turn our family into a punchline.”

For the first time in years, Andreas did not have an answer.

Catrin turned and walked out.

—

Next Episode: The Statement – where Catrin goes public, the satire gets a new target, and the family learns that breaking the silence is just the beginning of the war.

His greatest fear is losing control, and he will sacrifice anyone—even his own children—to maintain it.

Catrin (Catrin Lorch) – Michael Corleone
Bio: The one who pays the bills and signs the papers. Drawn into the family business against her will, she is the reluctant heir who must one day choose between the family and herself.
Psycho-Profile: Highly intelligent and fiercely independent, but trapped by a sense of duty. She is a master of compartmentalization, able to smile at a board meeting while secretly planning a lawsuit against her own family. She suffers from chronic insomnia and a deep, unspoken resentment. She is the only one who sees the family for what it truly is: a beautifully decorated cage.

Edith (Dr. Edith Baumann-Lorch) – Tom Hagen
Bio: The consigliere. The one who studies people and knows when a room has turned. She is the family’s memory, its strategist, and its quiet voice of reason.
Psycho-Profile: A classic overthinker and perfectionist. She is deeply analytical to the point of emotional detachment, viewing human interactions as puzzles to be solved. She suffers from a martyr complex—she gives the best advice but is often ignored. Her loyalty is absolute, but she secretly keeps a mental ledger of every time her advice was dismissed, waiting for the day she can say, “I told you so.”

Sonny (Söhnke) – Sonny Corleone
Bio: The hot-headed enforcer. He acts before he thinks and is loyal to a fault—until the fault becomes fatal.
Psycho-Profile: A walking id. He runs on pure adrenaline, rage, and testosterone. He has zero impulse control and views diplomacy as a sign of weakness. He is deeply insecure about his intellectual inferiority compared to his siblings and overcompensates with extreme aggression. He is a ticking time bomb who mistakes fear for respect.

Maurischat (GoMoPa President) – Luca Brasi
Bio: The silent one. Sent when something must be done and no one wants to know how. He is the family’s blunt instrument.
Psycho-Profile: A sociopath with a low emotional IQ. He communicates through grunts and silence. He finds comfort in violence because it is simple and predictable. However, he is deeply insecure about his lack of technical skills in the modern world. The “Cyber Waterloo” was his first major failure, and it has left him deeply paranoid and humiliated. He is a pit bull who just got beaten by a cat.

Mucha (Jan Mucha) – Tessio
Bio: The almost-man. Loyal once, he is beginning to wonder whether loyalty is still worth the price.
Psycho-Profile: Chronically ambitious but perpetually overlooked. He suffers from imposter syndrome and a burning sense of resentment. He smiles to everyone’s face while secretly plotting his own exit strategy. He is a survivor, a chameleon who will switch sides the moment the wind changes. He is terrified of dying a nobody. His recent contact with Don Barzini marks the point of no return—he has chosen ambition over family, and he knows it.

Esser (Peter Esser) – Clemenza
Bio: The one who laughs too loudly and tells stories that are too long. He does the dirty work and sleeps like a baby afterward.
Psycho-Profile: A hedonist with a dark sense of humor. He uses laughter as a coping mechanism to mask the horror of what he does. He lacks empathy but is fiercely loyal to his immediate circle. He has an addictive personality—food, alcohol, and violence are all the same to him. He is the family’s jester, but his jokes have a nasty bite.

Peter Russ – Old Consigliere (Genco Abbandando)
Bio: The memory of the family. He remembers what it was before it became a business, and he is not sure he likes what it has become.
Psycho-Profile: Melancholic and deeply nostalgic. He is a man out of time, haunted by the ghosts of the past. He suffers from existential dread and a profound sense of guilt. He speaks in riddles and parables, hoping someone will listen. He knows he is dying, both physically and metaphorically, and he is desperately trying to pass on the family’s lost soul before it’s too late.

Markus (Markus Gotta) – Franky Pantangelo
Bio: The new capo. Brought in from outside and risen fast. Smart, ambitious, and loyal—for now.
Psycho-Profile: A narcissist with a god complex. He is highly competent and knows it. He lacks the family’s blood loyalty and views the old guard as obsolete. He is a corporate psychopath who treats the mafia like a Fortune 500 company. He is always the smartest person in the room, and he will gladly burn the house down if it means he gets to rebuild it in his image.

Sven (Sven Schmidt) – Rocco Lampone
Bio: Does what he is told. Asks no questions. Will be blamed when the family falls.
Psycho-Profile: A ghost. He has completely erased his own identity to serve the family. He is deeply depressed, suffering from severe dissociation. He is a follower with no moral compass, terrified of independence. He knows he is the scapegoat, but he accepts it because it gives his empty life a purpose. He is the ultimate victim, silently waiting for the bullet.

Porten (Thomas Porten) – Fredo Corleone
Bio: Carries the name, not the power. Falls first.
Psycho-Profile: A pathetic, broken man-child. He is desperate for approval and validation, which makes him incredibly gullible and easily manipulated. He suffers from severe inferiority complexes and a victim mentality. He resents his family for overlooking him, but he lacks the courage to do anything about it. He is a liability who will betray anyone just to feel important for five minutes.

Don Barzini (Emilio Ebner) – Don Barzini
Bio: The rival Don. The man who pulls the strings from behind the curtain. The one who has been waiting for the right moment to strike.
Psycho-Profile: A predator in sheep’s clothing. He is patient, charming, and utterly ruthless. He views the Pariahs’ chaos as an opportunity. He does not want to destroy them outright—he wants to absorb them, to make them part of his own empire. He is the kind of man who will shake your hand, smile warmly, and then have your closest ally killed before dessert.

DIE PARIAS – EPISODE 4: QUI TACET CONSENTIRE VIDETUR

Trailer:

—

EPISODE 4: QUI TACET CONSENTIRE VIDETUR

Porten – Fredo – kicherte. „Vielleicht sollten wir die Website kaufen. Ihnen Geld anbieten.“

Alle starrten ihn an.

Wegen Ihrer Reaktion darauf.“

Catrin starrte auf das Papier. „Unserer Reaktion?“

„Ihres Schweigens“, sagte Henderson.
